I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the wee folk. Whether its fairies or elves or hobbits, I love them and adore the teeny tiny versions of things sized just for them. Of hobbits, I’m particularly fond. I think if I could choose, I’d be a hobbit. I love their sing-song life and, most especially, their cozy houses. Because of this, I’ve added a few hobbit doors to my garden. Painted on smooth, flat stones, these doors can be tucked in between plants, leaned up against a tree trunk or placed against a wall to give the impression that someone small and jolly lives just on the other side.

Things you’ll need:
River rocks
Acrylic Craft Paint
Paint brushes
Permanent marker
Outdoor sealer
Things to do:
1. Wash and dry your pebbles to remove any dirt or oil from the surface.
2. On a covered surface, paint a basic door shape covering most of the pebble surface. Allow the paint to dry.
3. Once the main body of the door is dry, use the marker to draw in wood grain lines.
4. Add details such as a door knob and hinges with paint. Allow the paint to dry.
5. Outline the door, the knob and hinges with the marker. Add more detailing such a bolts in the door or stones around the edge.
6. Once the ink and paint are dry, coat the whole things with an outdoor sealer to protect it from the elements.
