Looking to round out your child’s play kitchen? Felt ravioli may be just what you have in mind. These felt raviolis are as much fun to make as they are to play with, and are so simple to sew that you can whip up a batch in about as much time as it takes to boil a pot of water.
Things you need:
Brown Felt Square
Beige Felt Square
Coca Brown Felt Square
Coordinating thread
Hypoallergenic filling
Pinking shears or scissors
Sewing machine (optional)
Things to do:
1. Use pinking shears to cut your large felt squares into 5 cm x 5 cm squares. If you don’t have pinking shears, straight edge scissors will work just fine.
2. Put two squares together and sew together 1 cm from the edge along three sides.
3. Stuff with hypoallergenic filling, and then sew the fourth edge closed.
Between doll dinners and stuffed animal luncheons, store felt raviolis in plastic colanders, see-thru canisters, or wooden bowls. Whoever said you shouldn’t play with food obviously didn’t know about this crafty cuisine!
While 15 raviolis or so is a nice amount for equipping a play kitchen, you’ll want to sew up dozens to share with friends, pre-school teachers, and church nursery donations. For added fun, present in a sand-sifter colander and pair with a plastic pasta server.
