For this tutorial I used hot glue, however if you are working with young children, you may also use Elmer’s Glue. My three year old daughter crafted along with me with Elmer’s glue, however the drying time is significantly longer with Elmer’s glue. Here is how to make your own DIY Pinecone Turkey:

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 1 hour plus paint drying time.
Age range: 10+ (3+ if using kid safe glue)

Things you’ll need:
Pinecones
Googly Eyes
Orange Felt Sheets
Orange Feathers
Dark Brown Feathers

Things to do:
1. The googly eyes already have a sticky back, so you may stick them directly to the front of the pinecone. For extra security, I highly recommend placing some glue on the back of the eyes.

2. Cut a small triangle from the Orange Stiffened Felt Sheets. Place a small amount of glue to the back of the felt, then stick the orange felt piece to the front of the pinecone.

3. Place a small amount of glue on the back of the pinecone, then place a few Orange Natural Loose Turkey Feathers into the glue.

4. Continue placing on the back of the pinecone, then adding more feathers until desired amount of feathers has been reached.

5. For additional security, add a big drop of glue covering all the feathers ends. Then allow the glue to dry.

7. Place a small amount of glue on the bottom of the Dark Brown Natural Loose Goose Satinette Feathers. Then, slide the brown feathers behind the pinecone, sandwiching the brown feathers between the pinecone and the feathers.

Here is my 3 year old’s version with Elmer’s glue. We left it out to dry overnight. She decided upon more colorful feathers.

Voila! You now have your own DIY Pinecone Turkey.
