This menorah is perfect for kids. It’s flameless, and kids can even help make it.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 15 minutes active time, plus time for paint to dry
Age range: 6 and up

Things you’ll need:
Eight 2-1/8″ wooden spools
One 3″ wooden spool
1 1/2 ” high number stickers
Acrylic paint in Award Blue and Blue Bonnet
Foam brush
Woodless colored pencils

Things to do:
1. Using the foam brush, apply two coats of paint to each wooden spool, painting five spools with Blue Bonnet and six spools with Award Blue.

Tip: You may want to paint the top of each spool, then go back and paint the bottom of each spool. This will keep things less messy and avoid smearing the paint when you’re holding the spools.
2. Allow the spools to dry between coats, then allow the spools to dry completely after the last coat.

3. Line the spools up, alternating the light blue and dark blue spools. Place the large spool in the center.

4. Carefully apply number stickers 1-8 to each smaller spool. (Do not add a number to the large spool.) Center the number as best you can on each spool.

5. Place one colored pencil into the large spool. During Hanukah, instead of lighting a candle, add a pencil each night.
